About Alma Raíz
Alma Raíz is a dance group founded to share Colombia's cultural roots in Canada, as its own website states. It is directed by María Carolina Estupiñán.
Its repertoire travels through Colombia's regions with traditional dances such as the Sanjuanero and Rumba Campesina from the Andean region, the Puya and Cumbia from the Caribbean and the Aguabajo and Oriplayando from the Pacific.
The group performs traditional Colombian dance showcases and artistic research creations, and takes performance bookings through its website. With every performance, Alma Raíz brings the memory and identity of Colombia's dances to Canadian stages.
