About Toronto Latino

Toronto Latino is a Latin business in Toronto founded in 1985, when the city's Latin community was still small. Its origin is tied to money transfers to Latin America: it was born around the Ria Envía service, which offered remittances across the region within 24 to 48 hours, and transfers have been part of its identity ever since.

Today it combines a Colombian restaurant, a Latin grocery store, cheque cashing and money transfers. As a remittance agency, it lets the community send money to Colombia and the rest of Latin America from its Eglinton Avenue West location, with service in Spanish.

It is also listed as a Selentrega service point in Toronto — the cargo company whose primary focus is Colombia — so parcels bound for Colombia can be dropped off at the same location. It is a long-standing reference point for Colombians and Latinos in the York and Eglinton area.
