About Amigos Colombianos en Calgary
Amigos Colombianos en Calgary is the community portal of Colombians in Calgary, Alberta, and the public face of the Colombian Friends Foundation. Its site brings together a community forum, classifieds, an immigrant guide and profiles of community members, and presents itself as a space of mutual help and information for those arriving in the city.
Behind the portal works a team of volunteers organized in committees: the Sponsorship Committee (Apadrinamiento), which identifies the needs of immigrant families and supports them; the Cultural Committee; and the team that develops the Immigrant Guide. The portal's creator is a co-founder and president of the foundation, and its volunteers include a volunteer coordinator of Colombian Friends Charity.
The foundation channels the community's solidarity: it sponsors children and supports low-income families in Colombia, celebrates Children's Day and organizes the Fall In Love fundraising gala. In 2026 its own channel documented deliveries of food baskets, school supplies and refreshments in twelve municipalities of Colombia benefiting more than five hundred people, and the Realismo Mágico edition of its Calgary gala.
